Tank firm to double output

2011-05-26 00:00

WATER tank manufacturer JoJo Tanks has invested in a multi-million-rand expansion of its manufacturing facility in Camperdown near Pietermaritzburg.

The marketing manager of JoJo Tanks in KZN, Vishal Maharaj, told The Witness that the investment will double output at the plant.

The expansion will be completed at the end of this month.

JoJo Tanks, which is well-known for its social responsibility efforts in KwaZulu-Natal, boasts seven facilities in South Africa, including facilities in Camperdown and Glencoe.

Maharaj said that the expansion is in reponse to higher demand in residential and rural areas in the province.

“The machinery for the expansion of the Camperdown operation was imported from the U.S. and has created job opportunities for 10 people. Our Camperdown facility has grown into our second biggest site nationally after our Mpumulanga factory.

“There has certainly been an increase in awareness to get water-wise and environmentally conscious, especially owing to water restrictions and natural disasters in certain areas,” Maharaj said.

“South African water catchment areas are under severe stress with little extra capacity. Water rationing and increased tariffs are also looming.”

The company supplies tanks to all sectors of the market, including agribusiness and general consumers.

“JoJo employs a team of the most highly skilled people in the country who are driven by quality, service and invests heavily on research and development utilising the latest technology to offer a superior quality water tank to all sectors of the market,” Maharaj added.
