Tapestry of sound

2010-09-03 00:00

ON September 18, starting at 7 pm, Open Strings at 9 St George’s Drive, Westville, will host a performance by Guy Buttery. Buttery is currently touring to sell-out audiences in the United Kingdom and France.

He will be returning to the shores of Durban to play at the intimate setting of the home of Rod and Karen Nichols.

His friend and fellow performer Nibs van der Spuy describes Buttery as having “the mind of a prophet and the musical prowess of a guru”.

The opening act consists of Blake Roberts and Greg Bedford from the Blake Roberts Band.

Their sound is driven by a warm acoustic groove.

The band swings both sides of the pop-rock scale, from jazz through to melodic rock, offering a rich and diverse tapestry of sounds.

Buttery has been on a frenzied schedule of touring and the performance in Durban will no doubt be a treat for anyone who is familiar with his music as well as those who want to experience something new.

A cash bar will be available. Artists’ merchandise will be on sale.

Space is limited, so it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Phone Rod at 082 653 3948 or e-mail rodnichols@telkomsa.net for any queries.
