Cape Town — Housing Minister Lindiwe Sisulu has hailed the proposed tax incentives for employers who offer affordable housing for workers in terms in the Revenue Laws Amendment Bill.

The bill, tabled yesterday, proposes that an employer would qualify for an annual write-off if a property is released for sale to an employee who obtains an interest-free loan from the company.

The bill also updates existing incentives applicable to an employer’s rental units. These incentive proposals peg property values at R200 000 for houses and R250 000 for flats.
