Taxi collision: one killed and 12 injured

2009-11-16 00:00

ONE person died and 12 others were injured on Friday night when a minibus taxi and a car collided between New Hanover and Greytown.

The driver of the car died on impact after being ejected from his vehicle when the minibus taxi spun off the road and overturned.

Derrick Banks of ER24 said that two of the 12 people were seriously injured.

They had to be stabilised before being sent to Midlands Medical Centre.

Others were sent to Greytown provincial hospital where they are in a serious but stable condition.

“It is unclear as to what had caused the accident, but it is suspected that poor weather and wet conditions could have had a contributory factor to the accident,” said Banks.
