THE men accused of murdering a popular taxi driver in the Mzingazi area abandoned their bail application, in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Manqoba Mdletshe (24) and Sanele Buthelezi (22) are accused of murdering taxi driver Mduduzi Ngema (27) in a failed robbery attempt near his home on September 30.

At their first appearance on Friday, more than 150 residents congregated both inside and outside the court in an attempt to persuade the court to deny bail.

However, the case was adjourned until yesterday for a final decision.

The case goes back to court on December 4 to see if the matter will be moved to the high court for prosecution.

According to the police, both accused are alleged to have been linked to several robberies in the area.
