Taxi owner fighting for life after shooting

A dramatic highway shooting left an Inanda taxi owner fighting for his life – in the second hit-style slaying to knock the local taxi trade in two days.

The man’s wife was killed in the attack, which saw gunmen peppering their car as they travelled north on the N2 towards KwaMashu.

Police sources confirmed that the Taxi Violence Unit had started processing the scene, which forced the closure of the freeway in both directions.

The shooting appears to be an act of retaliation, after the murder of a the deputy head of the Inanda taxi association on Monday.
