LESS fortunate residents in Pietermaritzburg received an early Christmas when Maritzburg United embarked on a R20 000 Share For Good food bucket distribution last week.

The club partnered with Msunduzi Municipality and Shoprite, which donated 200 food buckets. They visited Ezinketheni area, near Copesville where they distributed the parcels to at least 100 residents before proceeding to Enkululeko, where 50 people were beneficiaries.

The remaining 50 buckets will be issued at Harry Gwala Stadium during the Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United game tomorrow night.

United’s marketing and communications manager Brian Zuma said gratitude was written on the faces of residents who burst into song in appreciation.

“We are very excited to be part of this noble initiative. Let us all inspire other less fortunate South Africans and put smiles on their faces,” Zuma said.
