Technical officials course offered today at Maritzburg Bowling Club

2011-03-10 00:00

THE Technical Officials Standing Committee is currently running a Level 1 Technical Officials course. All technical officials who have volunteered to umpire at the inter district “B”, or any other technical officials or players are invited to attend the last day as a refresher course. This will be held at Maritzburg Bowling Club from 9 am to 4 pm today.

Our district needs more technical officials to volunteer for duty at the upcoming inter district tournament from March 21 to March 25. Please contact the Niba office or R. Radcliffe at 033 343 4557.

The final of the Niba mixed pairs championships was won by Cynthia McDuling and Stephen Anley, who beat Colin McDougall and Ellie van Dijk in the final round. Congratulations to both couples.

Each club in the district will be contacted by a member of the executive committee about the National Bowls Awareness Day to be held on April 27. Full information about how to arrange this day has been sent to all clubs. If you have not received these details please contact Niba.

All members of our district sides are being issued with a coaching document that deals with all the areas of competitive bowling. These are teamwork, motivation, compatibility, commitment, concentration, consistency and the basic principles of alignment. The power of positive thinking when playing competitive bowls is also mentioned. Any club that would like a copy of this document can contact the Niba office or Doug Robertson at 033 343 1187.
