Teen with pistol arrested at school

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was arrested yesterday after drawing a gun during a school-yard scuffle in Nongoma in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

It is understood that police had responded to reports of fighting at the Falaza High School.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that when officers arrived, they were handed an unlicensed revolver which had the serial numbers filed off.

“The police proceeded to the school and on arrival the principal handed over a black Olympic 38-special with no serial number and four rounds of ammunition that was seized from the teen.

“The suspect was immediately arrested and released in the care of his parents.

The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing station to establish whether it was used to commit any other crimes,” Zwane said.
