A 14-YEAR-OLD boy, who paramedics believe was train surfing, was rushed to Northdale hospital on Friday after he was found in a critical condition. A local person called the ambulance.

The incident took place at the corner of Alexandra and Ritchie Road in Pietermaritzburg.

According to ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks, the boy was found lying on the grass in a critical condition after he had jumped or fallen from a moving train.

“He suffered severe chest injuries and possible internal injuries due to the jump,” Banks added.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan confirmed the incident. She said the boy’s family is not yet known.

“We believe that he was surfing on the train,” said Jeevan. — Witness Reporter.
