Ten climb out after bakkie rolls into canal

2012-10-09 00:00

TEN people escaped serious injury after their vehicle overturned on the John Ross Highway [R34] in Richards Bay and landed in a canal at high tide yesterday.

Reports indicate that the female driver lost control of the single cab bakkie at around 7 am when it overturned, and came to rest in the canal next to the road. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the 10 occupants miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.

They were all treated at the scene, but refused to be taken to hospital.
