The charges against Zuma

1. Racketeering: That Zuma became a de facto employee of Schabir Shaik’s Nkobi Group and helped them enrich themselves through government contracts.

2. Corruption: That Zuma received R4 million in donations from Shaik in return for favours.

3. Corruption: That Zuma received R500 000 a year from arms dealer Thint to protect it against any negative consequences of the investigation into the arms deal.

4. Money laundering: That Zuma concealed the corruption alleged under point 3 above through a farcical agreement between the arms dealer and Shaik.

5. Fraud: That Zuma did not declare 676 payments from Shaik between 1999 and 2005 in the parliamentary register of member interests.

6. Fraud: That Zuma also did not declare the alleged payments in charge 5 to the cabinet secretary.

7. Fraud: That Zuma lied while replying to a parliamentary question by the DA regarding an alleged meeting with an official of Thales/Thint.

8-16. That for nine years (each year forming a separate charge) Zuma did not declare the alleged Shaik donations to SARS (South African Revenue Service).
