The coast needs to clamp down on litter bugs

2011-03-15 00:00

CYNTHIA Vlok is the co-owner of the Kwagga Garage in Port Shepstone. She is crazy about rugby, has been on the South Coast for eight years and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

The Witness caught up with her and asked her about life on the South Coast.

What is your most memorable time on the South Coast?

Sitting outside on our deck at home after a hard day’s work enjoying the warm summer evening weather. I am normally too late to watch the sunset but I would love to.

What do you enjoy doing during your spare time?

For relaxation, I love sitting at Southport beach braaiing with friends whenever we get the chance, as well as working in our garden.

Who do you consider to be the most interesting person and why would you like to meet him/her?

Well, being a rugby fanatic, I would choose Bobby Skinstad as the most interesting person to meet. He was my hero when he played, and now that he is commentating, his soothing, fluid voice makes me sit up and listen.

What do you think of Facebook?

At this time I do not have an opinion to pass as I do not surf the web or chat on the Internet. Maybe one day.

What improvement would you like to see in the South Coast?

I cannot tell you how upset I get when I see litter on the streets. I often walk the beach and pick up litter when I have the chance. I would love to see a total clampdown on litterbugs.

How would you describe yourself in five words?

Honest, reliable, busy, compassionate and a good homemaker.

What is the one thing you cannot live without?

My husband, children, grandchildren, my religion and food.

Where is your favourite place on the South Coast?

Ramsgate Beach.

Where else would you like to stay in South Africa?

There is nowhere else I would like to stay in except on the South Coast. I have settled in and love every minute of it.
