The crack is showing in tennis star’s modelling career

2011-03-30 00:00

WE all know Rafael Nadal is a crack shot, but the tennis pro was serving up a different kind of service game for Armani this week.

In his latest modelling shoot, an unforced error was made when he attempted a thoughtful pose, modelled on Auguste Rodin’s famous sculpture The Thinker. The similarities are striking, butt for one small problem: all anyone can focus on in the picture is the 24-year-old’s plumber’s crack.

The cheeky shot forms one of a series of photos for the Italian clothing label, which has also had the Beckhams, Megan Fox and Cristiano Ronaldo modelling its underwear.

The photo comes as a bit of a bum deal for the world number one, who is already all over the web in sites and forums over his constant habit of picking his shorts out from his behind, in between each point he plays.

“Rafael Nadal seeks comfie undies” is just one of the top search results for the Spanish star, and a Facebook group “Rafael Nadal should stop picking his bum” is just one of many talking points on the web.

“This is a group that is dedicated to all those people out there that are fed up with watching him pick his bum on live television,” says the info box.

Some, however, find his habits charming. A site called has a post that says:

“I like all of Nadal’s idiosyncracies: the full-tilt sprint to the corner, the trophy biting, the leaping kicks, the OCD placement of his bottles court side, the pre-serve sock adjustments, the deliberate pre-serve bounces, and of course the dependable wedgie pick.”
