Thieves hit Steve Hofmeyr’s house

AFRIKAANS singer Steve Hofmeyr took to Twitter ­yesterday after he was burgled while holidaying in his South Coast home in KwaZulu-Natal. reported that the controversial singer tweeted: “We were just robbed in our holiday home. The stench is still lingering.”

The SAPS’s Captain Vincent Pandarum confirmed that the Hofmeyrs registered a case of housebreaking and theft at their Palm Road home in Pennington.

“Entry had been gained by forcing open a security gate,” said Pandarum.

He said Hofmeyr heard dogs barking and went to ­investigate.

“That’s when he discovered that his premises had been burgled sometime between 11 pm [on Tuesday] night and 3.30 am [yesterday] morning,” said Pandarum.

Hofmeyr found that household appliances had been taken, said the officer. also reported that Hofmeyr tweeted that his TV and Xbox were among the items missing from the scene.

The singer reportedly thanked his followers for their support. “Thank you everyone. We are unharmed,” he reportedly tweeted.

He was not available to comment.
