A TRIP to a workshop in Durban ended in a horror accident for health staff from Dundee Hospital when their car collided with a truck yesterday.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said three people from the Toyota Condor that the staff were travelling in were killed when it collided with a truck on the R103 at 6 am.

KZN Health Department spokesperson Sam Mkhwanazi said the nursing sister and four pharmacy assistants had been travelling in a state vehicle from Dundee to a workshop in Durban.

The dead were identified as Sister Busi Mazibuko, and pharmacy assistants Slindile Nsibande and Thobile Khanyile. Two others are criticially injured.

Khanyile’s aunt Gloria Cele said they lost “a hope of the family. She was a hard-working young lady that was no longer watching TV but only focusing in her studies as she was still studying. She was a loving and caring child that only wanted to be a better person,” said Cele.

Nsibande’s relative Thomson Ngisi said she was a responsible and humble person. “We were expecting more from her as she was the first born child to my sister.”
