THREE people between the ages of 27 to 57 were arrested last week Friday after being linked to a murder case in Paulpietersburg.

The suspects are expected to appear today at the Utrecht Magristrate’s Court, where they will face two counts of murder and house robbery. KZN SAPS media spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the suspects were arrested in Mpumalanga province after being found in possession of a gun, which was taken during the killing of a couple in their farmhouse in Groenvlei.

AfriForum spokesperson for community safety in KZN said, the couple, Nico Lens (62) and his wife, Marcia Lens (52), were found shot dead on their Commieskraal farm last week. “Marcia was reportedly found by neighbours in the bedroom after an emergency signal came through on the farm radio system, and later Nico’s body was found shot dead on the outskirts of the farm yard,” he said.

Zwane added that a murder case was reported at Groenvlei SAPS and Newcastle Task Team members followed up information which led to the arrest of the suspects. “This is a breakthrough made by our committed and dedicated members who worked tirelessly tracing these suspects. We will work around the clock to establish if they are linked to any other house robberies committed in and around the province,” said the KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
