Titans use seven bowlers in bid to restrict Knights

2014-02-14 00:00

HENRY Davids used seven bowlers as the Chevrolet Knights went into tea on day one of their Sunfoil Series match against the Unlimited Titans on 162 for three at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

The Knights, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, resumed their lunch-time score on 79 for two with Rilee Rossouw and Rudi Second at the crease.

The pair brought up the Knights’ 100 in 163 minutes before Rossouw moved past the 50-run mark in 147 minutes with seven boundaries. But shortly thereafter, Rossouw was caught by Davids off the bowling of Vincent Moore (1-48) for 52 to leave the hosts on 109 for three. Rossouw, who added 41 for the third wicket with Second, spent 151 minutes at the crease and faced 96 deliveries.

Second and Obus Pienaar then continued on their merry way, bringing up the 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket in 82 minutes as the pair guided the hosts into tea unscathed.
