Toddler dies after falling into pool

2014-07-22 00:00

A TODDLER drowned at a “crèche” in Greytown last week.

Merci Kiza (2) reportedly walked out through the front door and fell into an unused swimming pool. He was rushed to hospital, where he died.

The child’s uncle, Yenge Kiza said, “When we went to the creche to find out what happened, they said the child minder was not there and someone had left the main door open. The pool was not used and it had dirty water,.”

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said they have not yet established whether the day care centre was illegal.

Vusi Ndawonde, the home owner, insisted that the house was not a crèche but rather operated on an “agreement” between neighbours.]
