Tornado hits PMB

2008-11-13 00:00

Residents and the Msunduzi Municipality will have their hands full when mopping operations get under way in Cleland after a devastating storm struck the area at around 9.30pm last night (November 12). Early reports indicate the damage was caused by a tornado. Power was disrupted for around nine hours after the storm hit, but was restored at 5.15am this morning. Entry and exit to Jasmine Close has been blocked by fallen power lines that are now live.

One resident Peter Wortmann says that four vehicles on his property have been damaged and he is unable to get any of the vehicles out. He says that he has been trying to get hold of his insurance people to assess the damage.

Another resident whose front wall has been totally destroyed, John Martin, says that he's got his work cut out for him today when he tries to regain some order on his property.
