Traffic assault: trial set for 2011

2010-10-13 00:00

TRAFFIC officer Edward Xolani Mtshali, who is facing charges of assaulting Camperdown motorist Jude Ward at the Camperdown police station on January 18, is due to stand trial on January 17 next year.

Mtshali appeared in court briefly in connection with the case yesterday. He faces allegations that he pushed Ward to the ground, put his knee on her back and hit her forehead on the floor during the incident at the police station.

Ward, meanwhile, is to be tried for inconsiderate driving and failing to obey a traffic officer’s instructions in connection with the same incident on November 15.
