Transfer rush starts at United

Maritzburg United have bolstered their squad for the new season with six new signings, which were announced by United's team manager Quintin Jettoo.

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Gary Goldstone will beef up United's defence along with fellow new signing Bageta Dikulu, who was formerly at Ajax Cape Town.

A further addition to United's backline is Tshepo Mashishi, the former Thanda Royals Zulu captain, who plays at right back.

United have also acquired the services of two former Pirates youngsters, in defender Oscar Mathabela and promising midfielder, Million Makhubela.

"We saw the Milion and Oscar playing for Pirates at the recent Phakisa Cup," Jettoo explained.

The United manager also revealed that they have acquired the services of left-footed midfielder Jeffrey Makoti, who has returned to South Africa after a two-year spell in Cyprus.

"Hopefully we will be announcing further signings by the end of the week," Jettoo said.

Those signings hinge on coach Gordon Igesund's analysis of prospective signings this week.

United are due to play in two pre-season tournaments in early August, as they gear up for a return to the PSL.
