Zakhele Moses Hlatshwayo with the picture and poem he created as a tribute to Madiba. The local primary school teacher dreams of one day being able to present the gift to the former president Nelson Mandela with a picture he has drawn specially for him.

His name, ‘Zakhele’ means ‘creative person’ and Hlatshwayo enjoys poetry, drawing, classical music composition and sculpture. He said the picture is his way of honouring Mandela as he respects him and his ideas greatly.

‘I respect him because of his integrity and the way in which he tries to help everyone,’ said Hlatshwayo. ‘I also admire how the former president loves everyone, especially children.’
