CAPE TOWN — President Jacob Zuma encouraged everyone to watch TV last night as he took to his Twitter account to punt a new sitcom — starring two of his daughters.

He wrote: “I encourage you all to tune into channel 107 Tonight on dstv at 7 pm for a new sitcom ‘it’s for life’ it promises to be great #itsforlife (sic)”

Last night saw the premiere episode of It’s For Life on Mzansi Magic (107) on DStv. The sitcom stars the president’s daughters Gugulethu and Nokuthula Zuma.

One of the president’s Twitter followers replied: “@SAPresident did you get paid to tweet that by DStv?”

Another responded: “Dear @SAPresident. Some of us work and have no time for sitcoms. Some don’t even have DStv. Also, punctuate, please.”

Gugulethu has had a recurring role on the SABC3 soap Isidingo.

The show revolves around four 20-something girls who find a squatter living in their house who they can’t seem to get rid of.
