Twelve KZN kids still ‘lost’

2008-01-03 00:00

Twelve of the 152 children who were separated from their relatives on New Year’s Day were still waiting for their parents to collect them yesterday morning.

By yesterday afternoon, three remained and a further eight had been added to the number of lost children who were to spend last night at Addington Primary School.

In a statement released yesterday, the eThekwini Municipality’s festive season management committee appealed to anyone who lost a child on the beachfront to report to Addington Primary School.

The children’s sleepover at Addington is part of the city’s mission to both care for and reduce the number of lost children over the festive season.

Children cannot stay at Addington indefinitely and the SAPS are called in to locate relatives when a child has been there for more than two days, the council said.
