Twists in Mt View stabbing

2012-05-01 00:00

A 32-YEAR-OLD man appeared briefly before Pietermaritzburg magistrate, Reard Abrahams yesterday in connection with the murder of Pieterma-ritzburg widow, Vinotha Ince (51) on April 25.

Ince was found dead at her home in Egret Road, Mount View by contractors who were due to carry out renovations at her home, according to an earlier report by The Witness.

Police reported she’d been stabbed several times in the chest, apparently whilst in bed. Her body was found slumped against a wall in the doorway of her bedroom.

Her cellphone and bag were reportedly missing.

The accused, Skhumbuzo Enock Mkhize, was not asked to plead to the murder charge yesterday and prosecutor, Sally Singh, indicated that further charges could be added.

The state opposed Mkhize’s release on bail, and the matter is likely to be set down for a formal bail application when he appears in court again on May 16.

Mkhize has elected to apply for a legal aid attorney to represent him.

He told the court he has no previous convictions or pending cases.
