Two bust for R150 000 dagga haul

2011-01-03 00:00

DAGGA to the value of R150 000 was confiscated by Bellair police last week and two men thought to be part of a drug-dealing syndicate were arrested.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said a South African citizen of Dutch descent was arrested in possession of over 130 kg of compressed dagga, vacuum-packed in one-kilogram parcels in clear and brown wrapping.

“The dagga was found at a warehouse called Cargo Forms in Rossburgh. The dagga was packed and ready to be exported to Amsterdam …” said Mdunge.

The arrest of the 66-year-old Gilletts man was the culmination of an undercover operation.

“We hope this sends a strong message to other such persons intending to commit similar offences on KZN soil. We are watching you and it’s only a matter of time before we pounce on you,” warned Mdunge.
