2008-03-19 00:00

TWO men have been arrested for the murder of an Umgungundlovu District Municipality firefighter in August. The decomposing body of Nkosinathi Martin Sokhela (34) was found in Muden three weeks after he was reported missing on August 9.

Sipho Mngceleni Mchunu (23) and Bongani Bongumusa Mchunu (21), believed to be cousins, appeared in the Mooi River court on Monday.

After Sokhela went missing in Mooi River, his vehicle, a VW CitiGolf Velocity, was found the following day in Gauteng.

Police said one of the accused was caught in Johannesburg and the other in Nottingham Road.

Sokhela’s uncle, Pat Ngubane, said the family are “hoping for an early conviction”.
