TWO Umkomaas men have appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s court on a charge of housebreaking last week.

Leon Harrilal (26) and Neilin Naidoo (18) from Roseneath in Umkomaas were arrested for a burglary at a residence in the same street that they live in.

On August 15 the owner returned home to find her house had been ransacked.

“Burglars had broken the lounge window to gain entry into the house. The kitchen and all the rooms were in a state of disarray and the lounge table had been broken,” said Captain Vincent Pandarum.

Jewellery, a laptop, play station, cellphone and groceries were among the items stolen.

Harrilal was arrested on October 3 following investigations. A cellphone was recovered during his arrest.

He had sold the laptop to a relative in Reservoir Hills and the play station to a neighbour.

These were also recovered by police.

Following further investigations, Naidoo was arrested at his residence nearby in connection with the burglary.

The case has been adjourned until Thursday for bail applications. Both suspects remain in police custody. — WR.
