Two new Bok call-ups for Wales game

2014-11-21 00:00

WITH the final round of the international Test window wrapping up this weekend, the Springboks have called up two more players to replace foreign-based players who cannot play next week.

With fullback Johan Goosen, flyhalf Morné Steyn and scrumhalf Jano Vermaak all unavailable for the Wales clash, Lions fly half Marnitz Boshoff and Bulls scrumhalf Rudy Paige will make their way to the UK to fill the void.

Boshoff earned himself a Springbok cap during the international games held in June, while Paige joins the Bok squad for a second time. “Marnitz was part of our squad earlier in the season and he made his Test debut in June, while Rudy has impressed during the latter part of the Absa Currie Cup and he also spent a week at our training camp in Stellenbosch, so he is up to speed with our structures,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

The Boks take on Italy this weekend before meeting Wales in their final match of the tour next week in Cardiff.
