Tycoon to give back amid bling

TEN thousand children from disadvantaged backgrounds will be smiling today as they will be part of businessman Vivian Reddy’s birthday celebrations.

Themed “one dream, 10 000 smiles” this will be just one of many planned celebrations for Reddy’s 60th birthday celebration.

“I am very excited. I am so full of anticipation and I can’t wait to see the look of joy in those kids. It is going to be an experience for me,” Reddy told Weekend Witness.

The KwaZulu-Natal businessman said he wanted to do something special for children from children’s homes and underprivileged primary schools around the province.

There will be 150 buses transporting them to Ushaka Marine World and they will be fed and entertained by a dolphin show and a puppet show.

“They do not usually have a chance to celebrate their own birthdays. I’m looking forward to being with the kids...” Reddy said.

What might certainly get many excited is the 4,1 m high cake which weighs two tons.

The cake, which can feed up to 20 000 people, will be served to the children and the remaining cake will be distributed to schools.

After the children’s party, a late afternoon party will be attended by high profile guests like Patrice Motsepe, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, King Goodwill Zwelithini, ministers and other celebrities.

Guests will be entertained by Lira and other musicians. — W.R.
