U.S. singer at Phansi

2010-10-22 00:00

JASPER Lepak and Shannon Connolly will be performing at the Phansi Museum on October 28.

Lepak is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, Minnesota, whose original blend of folk and country music has set feet tapping and hearts singing through clever words and thoughtful emotions.

Lepak performed for audiences across the American Midwest until 2009, when she moved to Durban. Her fifth CD, Send Me Home, was released in March, 2010.

Connolly, who is hard at work in her studio at the moment, has been immersing herself in the Durban music scene since 2006, playing regularly at venues in and around the city. She has since performed at the last three White Mountain Folk Festivals and played alongside some of Durban’s finest artists including Barry Thomson, John Ellis of Tree63, The Pixie Bennett Band, Thirty-Three, Shannon Hope, Shomon and more.

Experimenting with different sounds for her original material, the result is an eclectic blend of folk, blues and country glistening with Connolly’s quirky insights into life and the world around her. She released her debut EP, Little Seed, in 2009.
