Uefa: League debutants Tottenham oust AC Milan

2011-03-10 00:00

SEVEN-TIME European champions AC Milan were eliminated from the Champions League by debutants Tottenham Hotspur after drawing the second leg of their last-16 tie 0-0 at White Hart Lane to lose 1-0 on aggregate.

Milan, seeking to reach the last eight for the first time since winning their seventh title in 2007, were by far the better side in the first half yesterday, but Spurs defended superbly and came into the game after the break.

Although they failed to add to the lone goal Peter Crouch scored in the first leg, the team gave a resolute performance.

Spurs’ victory means three English teams are still involved in this season’s competition.
