Umhlanga angler saves drowning woman

A WOMAN is recovering in a Durban hospital after she almost drowned in the waves at Umhlanga beach yesterday morning.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said a fisherman pulled the woman out of the water in the surf along Umhlanga beach.

She was fully clothed,

Botha said paramedics arrived at the scene and found the fully clothed 60-year-old woman on the beach unresponsive.

They stablised her on the scene and took her to Netcare Umhlanga hospital

“Exact details as to how she landed in the water fully clothed will remain a subject for police investigation and comment,” he said.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said there would be no investigation unless foul play was suspected.
