Umlaas pipeline shut, Howick water pipe open

2014-07-29 00:00

UMGENI Water will be shutting down the Umlaas water pipeline today from 7 am to 5 pm.

A planned shutdown in Howick, Greendale and surrounding areas that was supposed to happened today has been postponed.

Today’s Umlaas shutdown is to carry out planned routine maintenance for the reservoir pump stations and other infrastructure. The areas that will not have water as a result are Camperdown and Umlaas Road.

Residents have been warned to store up enough water and for those who may have not got the message, water tankers will be sent to the affected areas throughout the day. This assurance was given by the uMgungundlovu district municipal spokesperson Mbali Ndlovu yesterday.

The district municipality is the water service provider for the area and Umgeni Water is the bulk water supplier for the region.

Ndlovu apologised to all affected residents for the disruption. She said the Howick/Greendale residents will be notified in advance when the planned shutdown will take place in their area.
