Umngeni boss to lead govt body

KZN Midlands city bosses continue to lead the pack at the Institute for Local Government Management (ILGM).

As it wrapped up its three-day conference held in the Drakensberg last week, the KZN chapter of the ILGM elected the municipal manager of uMngeni Municipality, Dr Mpilo Ngubane, as its provincial chairperson.

Ngubane takes over from Msunduzi municipal manager Mxolisi Nkosi.

Nkosi had to step down after serving two terms as the provincial chairperson due to his election as the national deputy president of the ILGM.

Presenting his last report as the chairperson, Nkosi urged all local government practitioners to remain professional.

Although it was not officially pronounced at the conference, by the end of the conference delegates were referring to Ngubane as their president, saying they will confirm that in February next year.
