Unattended pole: residents alarmed

2010-03-15 00:00

DRIVERS and pedestrians who use Sweetwaters Road have raised concerns about an electricity pole which looks like it is about to snap from its base and cause an accident. According to one of the concerned drivers, this electricity pole has been a hazard since Saturday.

“I noticed this scene when I passed it on my way to Hilton on Saturday afternoon at about 1.45 pm. After I noticed that it was still the same at 4.15 pm, I phoned the electricity department. I went back at about 6.30 pm to the site to see if there any progress had been made, but it was still the same, although the lights were out on that section,” he said. Msunduzi municipal electricity process manager, Maxwell Mthembu, said that they were not aware of the situation but his department will attend to the matter as soon as possible.
