THE University of Zululand will host a series of activities to mark 20 years of democracy as part of the Higher Education South Africa (Hesa) Common Campaign Project.

Milestone activities include a round table discussion on 20 years of democracy today, led by the deans of faculties and facilitated by politics and international studies head Professor Chris Isike.

Tomorrow, the deputy vice-chancellor for governance and operations at Vaal University of Technology, Professor Gordon Zide, will present a public lecture on transformation and the creative arts students will render a piece focusing on developments from 1994 to 2014.

An academic discussion on South Africa’s journey from apartheid to a free democratic state takes place on Thursday.

The series of activities will conclude with a 67-minute contribution to the local community on Mandela Day, July 18.
