2012-12-12 00:00

THE Zululand District Municipality has received another unqualified audit report for the 12th year in a row.

Mayor Zanele Magwaza-Msibi called the municipality a “beacon of hope in the sea of corruption”.

“It shows that my political party, the National Freedom Party, is practising what it preaches,” said said.

“We have managed to achieve unqualified reports even at times when fraud and corruption was ripe in most municipalities across the country.”

She thanked all the staff and councillors in obtaining the clean audit.

Municipal manager Johan De Klerk said the municipality has received unqualified audits since 2001.

“This shows that our financial management systems are working wonders for us and we intend to keep them in place,” said De Klerk.

CFO Sipho Nkosi said they have “strictly” kept to their supply chain management policies in an attempt to “avoid tender-issuing related controversies”.
