Unusually cool spell giving way

2008-11-19 00:00

If you are fed-up with the drizzle and mist, take heart — the gloomy weather should lift today, according to the SA Weather Service.

Forecaster Ricus Lombard said the average for the past few days has been two to three degrees cooler than is normal for this time of year.

Lombard described the situation as “interchanging” and said the severe storms of last week are “probably more severe” because of climate change.

Fog patches expected over the interior today will lift, leaving partly cloudy conditions and a high of 29 °C, said Lombard.

Tomorrow sees the return of rain in the form of thunderstorms in the afternoon. A weak cold front will make its presence felt again by Sunday when showers are expected.

The president of the KZN Agricultural Union, Robin Barnsley, said that while farmers in the midlands and the south of the province are smiling after the rains, the coastal and inland parts of the northern province are still very dry.
