Upgrade attracts customers

A WELL-KNOWN city business located in the CBD has undergone a major R1,1 million upgrade, including a major re-branding and a change of premises.

“Tyre ‘n Tube has been down a driveway in the backyard of 236 Greyling Street since 1985 and has now moved into a brand new, on the street premises at the same address. The latest equipment has been installed to provide a professional service to all makes of vehicles,” Cathy Davie of Tyre ’n Tube told The Witness.

Davie said the business supplies car, truck and tractor tyres and tubes, Gabriel shock absorbers, as well as services such as wheel balancing and wheel alignment.

The latest developments saw Tyre ‘n Tube being chosen by Continental tyres to be the sole Conti Partner in Pietermaritzburg — hence the need to upgrade both premises and equipment.

“We are very proud to have been chosen. Since our upgrade new customers are coming in daily and we have been receiving really positive comments from our existing customers. We have noticed all around us that businesses are really making an effort to upgrade.”

The business, which was established by Dave Davie about 25 years ago, employs 12 staff members.

Cathy Davie added that they have coped well with the recession due to the fact that they invested heavily in stock — with the ultimate aim of satisfying customer needs.

“We have an excellent relationship with our suppliers which has helped tremendously. A highly competitive pricing policy has helped us to assist our customers during the recession as well.”
