Usuthu coach in a tight spot

2014-09-02 00:00

CRAIG Rosslee is putting his team’s performance ahead of his job after AmaZulu’s latest blunder — a 2-0 loss at Mameldoi Sundowns on Sunday.

Rosslee’s position at Usuthu has been under scrutiny after poor performances and according to KickOff, the coach feels that the club can change mentors but cannot change mistakes made in the game.

“I was the one that first got the team out of trouble, I was the one who got the team next to the top-eight position last year and it’s unfortunate we find ourselves in this position,” Rosslee said after their defeat.

“We know how the game is played, it’s a merry-go-round, that is the way it is. The fact of the matter, we can change the coaches but can’t change the mistakes made on the park.”

The former Ajax Cape Town mentor insists that Usuthu have quality all over but believes that the PSL fixtures are not in their favour as five of their first seven games are away ties.

The KwaZulu-Natal side travel next to Limpopo to face Polokwane City on September 13, then visit Wits on September 26.
