Victim to sue sex predator

2014-10-29 00:00

WHILE the prominent Durban drama teacher and convicted sex predator steps into the dock today — his first victim readies to sue over 20 years of pain.

The teacher, who allegedly paid his students for naked pictures and sex, is accused of using his considerable wealth to lure his victims.

The 48-year-old predator has been refused bail in the Durban Magistrate’s Court with his bail application stretching over four weeks.

He faces 11 counts of possession, production and procurement of child pornography, with his arrest coming in the wake of a discreet drug investigation at a top Durban high school.

In the wake of his arrest, the boy he molested and groomed in the early 1990s is hunting for a lawyer to pursue a damages claim. The man, who could not be named as it would identify the teacher, told The Witness that his ordeal had pushed his life into perpetual decline.
