Victoria Club hosts charity golf day

2010-05-21 00:00

VICTORIA Country Club is hosting a Winter Warmth Golf Day next week, in conjunction with East Coast Radio’s annual charity endeavours.

The golf day, to be held on Thursday May 27, will help to raise more funds in order to provide warm clothing and blankets for those less fortunate.

Victoria club professional Stuart Woodroffe has urged local players of all standards to join in and do their bit for the community, as each entry will automatically benefit the charity.

“It is something that we have been looking to get into, helping out with some form of community upliftment programmes,” Woodroffe said this week.

Though the focus of the day will be on those less fortunate, Woodroffe explained that Victoria’s pro-shop suppliers had been extremely generous in sponsoring prizes, and there will be a veritable feast of goodies for those who bring their A-game to the table.

With Srixon and Cleveland providing some of the fantastic prizes on the day, those in the field will be more than taken care of.

The format is a four-ball alliance, and those wishing to sponsor can do so by putting up R1 500 for a four-ball.

Each player’s fees amount to R250, and the remaining R500 will be donated to the Winter Warmth campaign.

Each player’s entry fee of R250 covers not only the green fees, but also pre-round snacks, halfway house and dinner to accompany the prize-giving at the end of the day’s festivities.

To add to the day’s entertainment, an East Coast DJ will be on the MC duties for the prize-giving.

With the field limited to only 120 players, all interested parties are requested to contact the Victoria pro-shop on 033 347 1394 as soon as possible.
