Vodacom Cup: Michaelhouse products to shine for Sharks

2010-03-26 00:00

THE Sharks XV and Boland meet in a key Vodacom Cup encounter at Woodburn today, and come the 7 pm kick-off local fans will witness a no-holds-barred arm wrestle for maximum points.

Boland are second, the Sharks fourth in South Section and there are precious few opportunities left to ensure a play-off berth.

Interest in former Clifton Nottingham Road and Michaelhouse wing Mark Richards, the out-and-out touchdown artist who scored a hatful of tries for his school’s first XV, should be high. At one point in his school career there was some talk that Richards, now 20, might try his luck in Australia, and it’s great that three years down the line he’s making big strides in Sharks country.

Other Michaelhouse lads in the side are flanker Mike Rhodes, loosehead Pat Cilliers (also Clifton Prep) and scrumhalf Ross Cronje.

Subs: Dale Chadwick, Hannes Snyman, Lambert Groenewald, Skholiwe Ndlovu, Ross Cronje, Jerome Pretorius, Luzuko Vulindlu.
