TRIES by wing Sibusiso Sithole and hooker Franco Marais in the last 10 minutes, and the superb goalkicking of flyhalf Fred Zeilinga, carried the Sharks XV to a 34-33 Vodacom Cup win at King’s Park on Saturday.

Zeilinga slotted all his kicks (four conversions and two penalties) in the awkward, windy conditions while the Free Staters missed a number of kicks at goal. The visitors did claim two bonus points for their efforts, as Freddie Ngoza scored their fourth try on the final whistle.

Sharks XV: Tries: Sizo Maseko, Fred Zeilinga, Sburra Sithole, Franco Marais. Conversions: Zeilinga (4)

Penalties: Zeilinga (2)

Free State XV: Tries: Rossouw de Klerk, Joubert Engelbrecht, Elandre Huggett, Freddie Ngoza. Conversions: Tewis de Bruyn (2). Penalties: De Bruyn (3).
