Vryheid killings:trio in court

2011-03-15 00:00

POLICE have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Buyisile Xaba (25), whose body was found at Mooiplaas farm near Vryheid in February.

The men appeared in the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They are a 40-year-old traditional healer, Sipho Mtshali, Themba Ntuli (34) and Celimpilo Jiyane (20).

Xaba’s heart was cut out from her chest after her murder, said police spokesperson Brigadier Phindile Radebe.

She said detectives from Vryheid arrested the three suspects on Friday, acting on information from the public.

Xaba’s body was the second found in a short time in the same area, prompting fears of a serial killer at work. “The KwaZulu-Natal police will make sure that all those who commit crimes against women and children will be brought to book and face the long arm of the law,” said Radebe.

The three men will apply for bail next Monday.
