WP among worst disciplined

2014-10-14 00:00

CAPE TOWN — They may have topped the Currie Cup log in regular season, but Western Province fans should be perturbed by their team’s lack of discipline at times.

WP have averaged almost one yellow card per game, with nine sin-bins in 10 league matches. Despite this, they have won eight of those games and finished comfortably in top spot to assure themselves of a home semi-final.

Griquas, who finished seventh, also received nine cards — seven yellow and two red cards.

WP’s opponents for Saturday’s semi-final at Newlands, the Blue Bulls, have received seven cards, with one red card for captain Deon Stegmann.

Saturday’s other semi-final teams, the Golden Lions and Sharks, have received four yellow cards apiece.
