Walk for paws and the SPCA

2013-06-14 00:00

DOGS of all shapes and sizes will congregate at Hilton College on June 30 to walk the walk for their less fortunate cousins.

The SPCAs of uMngeni (Howick), Pietermaritzburg and Mooi River and District are working together for the fifth year to organise an even bigger and better day of family fun where much-loved pet dogs will be the focus of attention.

An easy two-kilometre walk through the grounds of lovely Hilton College can be combined with the more rugged four-kilometre route with stunning views of the Umgeni Valley and Albert Falls Dam. The walks are open from 9.30 am until 12.30 pm and the morning will be filled with fun and entertainment, including sky divers, belly dancers, the Caledonian pipe band and the working dogs of the SA Air Force. There will be competitions and wonderful prizes throughout the morning, culminating in the draw for the raffle prize of a week at Alpine Heath for six people, valued at R32 000.

Vintage cars and Harley Davidsons as well as plenty of food, drink, interesting stalls and live music round off a great family day out. Entry is R30 for everyone over six, and R10 per dog.

So, bring the whole family, particularly the dogs, and enjoy yourselves knowing that every rand you spend is helping animals in need. For more information phone Pam at 033 330 7561 or visit www.umngenispca.org.za
