Wards: seven days to object

2011-08-23 00:00

MSUNDUZI Municipality speaker Babu Baijoo has advised community members who are unhappy about the ward committee elections over the weekend to submit their objections within seven days.

He said they must send these to his office.

Baijoo said a Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) was formed by the municipality to deal with any objections stemming from these elections.

“The DRC is an independent body that was formed by the municipality to deal with objections from the community.

“It was not formed by the Department of Co-operative Government and Traditional Affairs [Cogta] as the story suggested in yesterday’s report,” said the speaker.

Objections can also be sent to a Cogta election oversight committee, Baijoo said.
